Shockingly timely. I can see why Warner Bros. pushed its release many times.

Parasite 2019
Hit a lot harder for me on a rewatch, especially as someone who recently got an office job and working hard to earn money. Still a timeless depiction of class inequalities, with amazing blocking and composition in a way I haven’t seen since Kurosawa’s High and Low. Also the kind of film makes me want to keep pursuing filmmaking, so I really needed this. Excited for Mickey 17!

Easter Sunday 2022
Watched this alone in my local theater, and that’s opening night! But I didn’t mind, because I just had to be there to watch this milestone in Filipino-American representation in Hollywood. Easter Sunday may not please anyone, certainly not non-Filipinos who may not get some of the Filipinisms, but this is such a proud moment for me and I shall cherish it.

Andrei Rublev 1966
Andrei Rublev is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Andrei Tarkovsky's medieval epic doesn't feel like one. Nor does it feel like a biography of the titular character, who's an icon painter in 15th century Russia. Instead, it's a one of a kind sensory experience, one that requires full attention.
