A low budget but well executed modern horror. A gloomy night in a Scottish backwater town is the setting for a convergence of sadistic evil. This got a little messy for me with all the subplots, but the kills are messy af and so all is forgiven. Let Us Prey is not that original but somewhat still an engagingly thrilling horror. A decent watch and with enough gore/violence to boot

Basket Case 2 1990
Watching for its 35th anniversary and here’s a situation where I like the sequel better. Plot is just simple, no frills subplots or the like. Because the frills are in the special effects and make up. Unreal stuff, seriously. The kills too. Could arguably be better but the visuals of each victim with wounds inflicted… gee whiz it’s graphic. Graphically good! Much more enjoyable viewing than the first Basket Case. Well at least for my taste

Spit 2025
After watching Gettin’ Square recently, Spit just picks up where we left off seamlessly. Maybe having watched both in quick succession aids that, but to hell with it - 22 years ago felt like yesterday here. David Wenham is brilliant once again as the title character. A befitting spinoff character study with genuine laugh out loud moments. To my surprise as well there were also some touching moments delving into Spit’s past. Seeing all the characters as well from Gettin’ Square was a treat too. Really enjoyed this. A refreshing modern Aussie comedy that hits the right notes.

Evil Dead Trap 1988
Now this was an absolute treat. Japanese b-horror style bat shit crazy plot with a buffet of brutally gruesome kills. Holy smokes the range and creativity of the kills too has to be acknowledged. Honestly blown away by how much of a blast this was. Oh and the score is super neat too
