    Black Bag

    ★★★★

Soderbergh’s best movie in years. Imagine if Mr & Mrs Smith was written and directed by David Mamet and you’ll have a good sense of what Black Bag is. It’s sleek, sexy and elegantly intense and features great performances from Fassbender, Blanchett, Rege-Jean Page, Tom Burke, Naomi Harris, Pierce Brosnan and especially Marisa Abela. One of the year’s best films.

The movie strains credibility at times (many times actually) but moves quickly enough that its minor flaws don't ruin the fun.

It forced them to use models and sets more and it has the whole experience feel more real and tactile. Yes, some of the dialogue is corny and on the nose but the story is great and what James Cameron pulled off is…
