  This was…fantastic?!?! I had a memory of this movie being a classic cheap giant monster flick, but this was far from that. Expert direction and clever editing kept this film moving and tense. A good script had something to say and made the gravity of this situation very clear. There were some genuinely horrifying moments. And whoever did the creature effects needs to be applauded! Especially for ‘54.

  First of all, PROPS to the marketing team. That’s how you get butts in seats. But the tone and direction are evocative and fills you with a heavy dread that just sits in your chest the entire runtime. Truly incredible performance from Maika Monroe. Truly chilling performance from Nic Cage. A slow burn that I wouldn’t mind if it kept burning.

  A fucking gorgeous film that’s even more relevant now than it was 9 years ago. Amazing performances all around with a twist that honestly had me cackling.

Following
