Still Walking 2008
Perfectly encapsulates what it feels like to visit home as an adult, especially one who feels out of place in their family. The tension, the forced cheer, the outbursts of emotion, the words left unsaid, and the words that should’ve been left unsaid, all wrapped into a family dinner that sort of pushes all of those things under the rug. Walked out of the movie feeling a little melancholy yet oddly refreshed, a range of emotions that is difficult to put into words and is only felt if you’ve ever grieved for a loved one, dead or alive.
