Maestro 2023
There is a lot to write about for this one (which may come up later on), but one immediate thought afterward is that the much-hyped performance of the finale of Mahler’s second symphony is every bit worth watching the movie for. It is an earth-shattering use of sound and visuals that is absolutely one of the highlights of the year.

Waves 2019
Waves is so far the worst film I have seen in recent memory. It is so overly manipulative with its music choices and dialogue, cinematography that is trying too much while also not accomplishing anything, no reason for so many aspect ratio changes (like really? Do you have to change it to a different aspect ratio after a major moment in the film?), and a plot that pretty much ends half the way through. Do not recommend it at all.
