A butchered masterpiece. But a masterpiece nonetheless. It’s absurd to me how they cut almost an hour out of the film and yet it’s still so strong. All of the technical and artistic elements really come together in such a perfect way that it really makes it apparent just how utter dog shit the reshot ending is: bad dialogue, boring camera angles, shallow cheap sets, awkward performances; an artistically hollow ‘happy’ ending.
