Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat 2024
A propulsive, excellent documentary framed by legendary jazz performances of the 50s and 60s. The editing is a masterclass in rhythm, and it is constantly pitting the public faces of colonial powers against their private convictions against Congolese independence specifically along with African independence generally. Soundtrack is forceful and educational, but never boring or slow. As excellent and omnipresence as the soundtrack is, the most impactful moments in the movie are silent. Can't recommend it more.
