(i saw this a few months back but i forgot to rate it) i liked the idea of the pixie like creatures, and the jump scares were good, but that’s about it.

Ginger Snaps 2000
using lycanthropy as a metaphor for the horrors of menstruation and womenhood in general, is just briliant. they take the classic werewolf transformation and morph it into something far more terrifying—an unflinching, bloody metaphor for puberty, periods, and the rage of female adolescence. ginger snaps captures the visceral, and often grotesque experience of growing up as a girl in a world that fears and objectifies femininity. the transformation scenes go beyond horror, laying bare the alienation and horror young women often feel in their own skin. it's messy, violent, and unapologetically raw. ginger snaps slaps.

Getting the Old Scent Again: Reimagining Red Dragon 2015
i’m going to log this in as 2x13 (mizumono) because WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT. i swear to god i have never cried more in my life. this whole show is a cinematic masterpiece but the ending scene of this episode… i can’t. it was devastating and the song they played in the background was just perfect (bryan fuller and brian retzell you are both geniuses).

Pearl 2022
from an aesthetic and performance viewpoint, I'd give this movie a 5/5, however, a story based on a horny girl from a small town is just not my cup of tea. i don’t mind watching movies with characters that have disturbing natures, such as those in hannibal, but this was just too much for me and i couldn’t even finish watching it.
