This film pleasantly surprised me as a great comeback for a franchise that left the screens in 1981 with the exception of a poor remake in the early naughties.
The truly captured the feel of the first film with a great score and a stellar cast. The film relies on a lot more horror-elements than the slow build of the first 3 films but has plenty of lore and twists for fans of the original trilogy.

I have yet to come across an Eggers film that I do not love.
There are some truly dramatic shots in this film that simply cannot be missed. The master of modern folk-horror returns with a bloody, oozing gothic thrill ride that’s equal parts satiating and disgusting. I came out of that film feeling like I needed three showers and to check myself for spiders.
