Baffled by all the negative reviews. I had a great time with this. I found the most of it very gripping and it truly captures the absurd and repulsive cult-like behavior as a result of celeb-culture and the commercialization of the aesthetic.

This subverted any expectation I had. Was constantly left being lead into the next ‘big’ moment but what happened was an unending descent of disquiet. Definitely going to rewatch it for what it is now. Phew.

That psychiatrist dude’s wardrobe though >>>

Fun movie overall, really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it. While very flawed in my opinion, its stronger elements definitely warrants you giving this a shot.

A problematic factor here would be my expectations for high art and assumptions from the movie colliding with what the movie actually sets out to do.

The movie heavily sets itself up for a scale and stakes it fails to achieve. It tries to elevate a slasher film to a supernatural horror flick…

    FUCK

This is the second of Gareth Edwards’s movies I’m watching after The Creator and this man is going to some day end up in the sci-fi hall of fame. The sense of scale captured with gorgeous music and editing. This is the quintessential sci-fi disaster movie I wish I had watched earlier and I love my gang for goading me into watching this.
