    Two Mickeys, two movies. One a 4, the other a ???.

    I’m not sure it quite comes off if not just because the first half feels more straightforward so threw my expectations. And yet the first half also feels sharp and more specific while the second, which is zanier I guess, is more indulgent and more generic. 

    Wish I’d watched it in a fuller cinema because I think the sense of an audience going on a trip together would’ve helped.

    But lots to enjoy - mainly the English theatre cameos and trying to figure out who Ruffalo is channelling. (Chris Christie???)

    An enjoyable 90 minutes (which feels kind of strange to say about a movie on this subject) that brought up a lot of relatable thoughts and feelings about the disconnect between how grief and remembrance SHOULD be felt and demonstrated and how it actually is for the individual.     Better than Napoleon in that it’s mostly coherent. The action is fun, grisly and chaotic. Denzel Washington having a total blast. Mescal is fine, I don’t quite buy him as a movie star but he does what he can with his character (who is by far the least interesting one) though you spend the whole movie wishing he was Russell Crowe.
