  Caught this gem at its Des Moines premiere. 

  I found this documentary film unflinchingly and delectably Midwestern. (I’ll say it: I’m a sucker for the Minnesota accent.) Yes, the narrative revolves around two high school hockey teams journeying through their 2020 season, but for me, the moments of real heart happened outside of the ice rink. They manifested in gentle interactions: two boys sleeping on each other on the bus ride home. A boy helping his mother with dinner, sliding taco…

  If you’re sitting there wondering, How good can this really be? 

  Go. It’s that good. 

  Fun choreography, stunning set designs, and an incredible adaptation of a story you already know and love. (I’m still dreaming about the choreography with all the doors. Like, hello.) What more can you ask for?
