On the Run 1999
Felt like a mix of Trains, Planes, and Automobiles + After Hours, mixed with a Sopranos touch and filmed with the frantic energy of Chungking Express/Fallen Angels.
I miss the days when indie gems were made like this and it's a crime that this film isn't well-known or available to buy/stream.
A recommended watch for fans of Sopranos actors definitely (some extra cameos outside of the leads), but also a great watch if you've never seen Sopranos. It got me through a bummer day and I'm thankful for this film for doing that.

Contact 1997
From the phenomenal opening scene that scales the universe to Ellie's exhilarating and emotional interstellar journey in the final 30 minutes, this movie has the sauce.
The scale. Science. Religion. Curiosity. Loneliness. Power couple of Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan penning the story. Robert Zemeckis directing. Jodie Foster leading. Sauce.
Even though I loved it when I watched it in theaters at age 9, tonight, I realized Contact is my favorite science-fiction film. I'm excited to read the book.

The Story of Qiu Ju 1992
One can never go wrong with a Zhang Yimou and Gong Li combo.
No doubt the best film ever about a guy getting kicked in the balls.

The Truman Show 1998
Jim Carrey's first dramatic role is still one of my favorites. The story itself says a lot with our society's obsession with watching people's lives in the form of reality television. With reality television hitting its peak nearly 10 years after its original release, I would say it is more relevant nowadays than compared to way back in '98.
