So, let's get the bad out of the way first.
The premise of this movie is absolutely ridiculous. A soldier from WW2 (Barr played by Sam Elliot) goes undercover and kills Hitler. The Nazi's cover it up and parade out some imposters, so history never tells the true story. Much later in his life Barr is approached by the US/Canadian governments because they need a man of his particular skills to save the world again. This time...from "The Bigfoot." Turns…
My wife put it perfectly, so I will just borrow from her. There is a great movie hidden beneath the one you will watch. With some excellent dialogue and a few good characters, this movie had the chance to be something quite good. The director ruins it with his inexplicable use of fish-eye lens shots and the use of cut-aways to drive home dark humor. It reaches for "Dangerous Liaisons" and comes up woefully short.

This is the best movie I have seen in a long time. I know a lot of people have been trying to sell McConaughey as a legitimate actor, but I was always a bit hesitant to take him seriously. No longer. This movie is absolutely brilliant, compelling, and engrossing, all of it because of Matt. An absolute must-see.
