As a film titled Garfield one may anticipate something akin to what one would find in the comic strip the film draws its name from but, in actuality, a name is truly all these properties have in common. Garfield (2024) is one of the most shamelessly corporate & banal films I have ever watched & is almost completely disconnected from the original spirit of Garfield as both character & as a brand.

Is this film perfect? No, but is it entertaining? Absolutely. Also, bonus points for the gay little subplot between Billy Zane & Jason Priestley’s characters. I was enthralled with what they were able to accomplish with less than 3 minutes of screen time. This film has ruined me.
