Ritual 2000
As much as this is a film about depression, it’s also definitely one about filmmaking, to a degree. The male lead is at least a partial projection of Anno himself, his self doubts, his creative struggles. No matter how precisely we try to encapsulate our reality within the camera or the pen, it’s ultimately always a fruitless effort. Art is ephemeral, our lives are now.

Holy fuck I don’t even know what to say about this like????? It’s just too much movie for one movie and my brain is totally fried and I want to relegate thinking about this more to later but oh my god my mind keeps running through some of the scenes here and all I know is that I LOVE the stupid goons and and the entire middle portion of this movie and that I HATE that stupid little Russian twink and that I NEEEED to see this again. Fuck. Good night.
