Longing, spiritual searching, fraternal love, redemption.
Beautiful scenery of Midwestern US, Lynch’s second collaboration with the great cinematographer Freddie Francis.
Meditative. Watched it with my mom, she really loved it too.
May not have any insane dream-logic going on, but an 80-year-old, stubborn man driving his lawn-mower hundreds of miles to see his estranged brother and make amends is a thoroughly Lynchian plot (based on an amazing true story!). It is both absurd and heartwarming, in equal measure. Lovely film.

I Saw the TV Glow 2024
Super cool movie that has this very sinister kind of ambient existential anxiety underneath the entire runtime. It is not out-right horror, but a more subtle disquieting horror that digs under your skin and begins to make you feel uncomfortable but you can't directly point a finger as to why. Obviously, it is a very personal film from Schoenbrun as it attempts to express the dysphoria that many trans people feel in a more universalized context. It succeeds very well…
