Watched this yesterday with friends at Empire Cinema.
Okay I needed time to get home and think. When the movie was finished, my friend and I had a cigarette and discused some crucial things we thought that were left out and could have been more nuanced.

My father in law told me about this movie maybe five years ago. I've been thinking about it for a long time, and I knew it would be an emotionally draining journey of violence, abuse and struggles of young german boys who weren't welcome in Denmark after the war.
Overall I am usually not into war movies and therefore I will not give a full score on this one. The cinematic expression seemed believable and I felt deep empathy and conflicted for these boys and the anti-hero.
I thought the actors were pretty good.

ICONIC AF! Seriously one of my favorite movies of all times. When I was thirteen we weren’t allowed to use the internet after 8pm in my mom’s house, so my real dad (that I’ve never lived with and is now an estranged father haha) downloaded this movie on my little smartphone. So every night I would watch it and fall a sleep to Kung Fu Panda. I was deeply in love with Po aka Jack Black… I still am.
It kinda worked but then also not really.. I think I am okay with it.
I did love the whole two goofy daddy thingy and thought it was interesting but the villain was very irrelevant (ironic how he also was forgotten in the history of kung fu) but I did not find him complicated/interesting enough to feel invested in this villain character.
