Definitely more grunge and industrial than goth, but it was still very fun! It had a strong sense of aesthetic to it. Every single needledrop hit so fucking hard. But it is very clearly based on an 80s-90s comic series written by a straight man. It has that specific feel to it, especially in how every line feels like a one liner and how the only important, unsexualized woman in the film is a child. It's not super Profound or anything, but it's a fun film for sure.

It doesn't have that extra Something that other Del Toro films tend to have, but, of course, I still enjoyed it. It's very beautiful and very fun, and it hits enough of those classic Gothic beats that I so love. I did cheer and clap when Burn Gorman first appeared on screen (as I tend to do when he appears in a Del Toro film).

"All I really want is to be loved."

Movies that hit home especially when you're a burnout from a stifling rural town. I get why everyone's so obsessed with Mia Goth now
