prime example of gore doesn’t equal good horror. like i guess the plot is somewhat interesting but it’s poorly written. it’s clearly just for shock value like blood, bad plot, guts, bad plot ughh. if you genuinely like this movie you’re a weirdo, future serial killer, or edgelord. but the one good thing i will say is that there was a lot of good cinematography and the ending scene with the thorn crown was beautiful.

Mysterious Skin 2004
This movie left me speechless. Mysterious Skin is a deep, heartbreaking movie about repressed trauma, CSA, loss of innocence, and trauma responses.
This movie might be one of if not the best movies I’ve ever watched due to the painful topics executed with amazing acting from Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as Neil McCormick) and Brady Corbet (as Brian Lackey). Everything was so perfectly executed including the metaphors and abstract imagery.
