  Not subtle in the slightest, but for me, Bong’s craft and flare make that entirely okay. Sci-fi, comedy, gore, all infused with empathy for those suffering at the hands of capitalism, colonization, Musk-ism, Trump-ism, the overall fucked up world order. Great cast of characters - seems like it must be a fucking blast to work with Director Bong!

  There's a quiet electricity to this that can't be ignored. The setting, The Valley in the 1970s, is essential, yet there's a sort of timeless yearning and questioning of youth on display--blind ambition, total confusion, and desire. It's also funny and the soundtrack bangs.

  But, it’s largely about a 15-year-old and a 25-year-old. And while it's clear their relationship is part friendship, it's also rooted in romantic desire. Beyond that being unsettling to watch, it also feels entirely unnecessary. Why…
