    The Exorcist

    ★★★★★

[For this viewing I watched the Director’s Cut of the film]

Demon: “What an excellent day for an exorcism.”

Father Karras: “You would like that?”

    Demon: “Intensely.”

Father Karras: “But wouldn't that drive you out of Regan?”

Demon: “It would bring us together.”

    Father Karras: “You and Regan?”

    Demon: “You and us.”

A couple of changes in the dialogue, at least one scene shown from a different perspective, goofy Pazuzu flashes, and a few additional scenes notwithstanding, The Exorcist remains a gripping cinematic experience even in its infamous Director’s Cut form.

    Scream 3

    ★★★½

    Dewey: “The killer called her.”

    Mark: “When?”

    Gale: “What'd he say?”

Sidney: “Oh, you know, the usual small talk. ‘What's new?’ ‘How you been?’ ‘How do you wanna die?’”

Despite being my least favorite movie in the Scream franchise, Scream 3 is nevertheless a fucking blast.

    Dune: Part Two

    ★★★★★

Dune: Part Two is the payoff to all the worldbuilding and setup from the first film, and it’s the rare sequel that meets — and in some cases, even surpasses — the excellence of its predecessor.

Take every element that was great from the first Dune, build upon that foundation, and that’s what you get with this movie: excellent performances across the board, an expanded scope for the story, impeccable cinematography, incredible VFX work, and a fantastic score.

With Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve has created a cinematic masterpiece, the likes of which we only see every few years.

Beetlejuice is BACK, and — as the Ghost with the Most himself would say — it’s showtime! Michael Keaton is in top form here, like he just played the character yesterday.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is also the most Tim Burton movie that Tim Burton has directed in a long time. The plot may not always make a ton of sense, but let me tell you: This movie is still a fucking blast.
