The Zone of Interest 2023
I was completely blown away by Jonathan Glazer's film once again. It was truly difficult and horrifying to watch, especially just a few days after Holocaust Remembrance Day, and considering that another genocide is currently occurring. Moreover, it is shocking and disturbing to witness how Germans (and, by extension, the Western world) continue to live as if nothing is happening. Freud would have loved this film - an old and « non desirable » woman starts killing younger women because she is sexually frustrated? Really? In 2022? Also giving body shame to older woman + making them monsters - not even mentioning the cool people from the city compare to the creepy people from the countryside. Anyways.
