This is one of my comfort films. I'd like to say it's because of my beloved Norma Shearer (and make no mistake, she's flawless in this) - but truthfully it's because I love watching (my equally beloved) Leslie Howard shoot and kill Clark Gable. π₯°

The Kid from Kokomo 1939
I watched this for Joan Blondell, who was underused/underutilized - something I think far too often when watching her movies. This was pretty boring up until the "meet the parents" scene, which was really funny! I enjoyed the rest of the movie afterwards, too. So it's slow to start, but once it gets going it's quite a bit of fun.

Nightmare Alley 2021
Good performances by Cate and Bradley, but ultimately pales in comparison to the 1947 version.
