    Definitely more dark comedy than horror - absolute bloodbath with really good set up and call backs for most of the deaths especially in the final act.

    Don't really quite understand the metaphor it was going for with the titular monkey, trauma and grief, but maybe it'd make more sense on a rewatch.

    Didn't top Longlegs for me but I will continue to follow Osgood Perkins' career with interest.

    Enjoyed the world-building in the first act, some visually incredible sequences (in particular with the spaceship), loved the attention face huggers got throughout the plot rather than just being an act 1 plot device you never see again. Every close-up on the xenomorph was incredible.

    Andy is definitely a contender for my favourite synthetic in all the films.

    I wish the marketing material hadn't spoiled the premise and I could have gone into this totally blind.

    That being said, thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent pacing and Iris makes a lot of smart decisions which is always appreciated in a horror/thriller film. The breadcrumbs throughout the first act were laid out well and I appreciate not everything got spoiled in the trailer.

    Jack Quaid is definitely on the cusp of being type-cast between this and Scream 5.
