Climax 2018
Terrifying, visceral and insane, Climax has no proper story or character arcs but is instead a vision of an isolated group of people losing control of themselves and the horror of what then happens. For the first half of the film, it establishes who these people are and what they are like and for the second half it asks the question of what if they all lost control of themselves. Incredibly shot, Incredibly acted, unhinged and haunting. There are very few films like this one. Most people will hate it.

Cure 1997
I can already tell that this will be the first of many watches as this film is really hard to pin down. A haunting movie on human psychology and the inner darkness the exists in us all. The film is incredibly crafted with the editing and cinematography working in perfect harmony to tell this terrifying story. A film with no easy answers and one that stays with the audience long after it is over. The performances here are exceptional. Utterly brilliant film.

Autumn Sonata 1978
Two of the most gut-wrenching and terrifyingly real performances I have ever seen. The film is so real and human and captures such truth in the human experience and the permanent damage a poor childhood creates. The film almost acts like a thriller in the way that the tension and hurt bubbles to the surface slowly escalating throughout until the words cry out and the tears flow. In just 90 minutes Bergman crafts a film that speaks incredible truth.

The Zone of Interest 2023
Dark, artistic, profound filmmaking. A film that never fails to unsettle and is layered with powerful imagery and perfect performances. A film that has not left me since I watched it. The sound disturbed me more than most horror films ever have. The performances, sets and cinematography create a sense of authenticity that makes it feel like you are peering into the past and the darkness of what humans can do. The final glance towards the future and the legacy of what is being done leaves the audience a lot to think about. 10/10
