Romanticizing emotional abuse in films for anyone is bad, especially when it's targeted towards "teens". The relationship between these two characters is problematic and manipulative. The portrayal of mental health in this movie rivals that of thirteen reasons why. Elle Fanning gave a more emotional performance as Mei Kusakabe in Studio Ghibli's film My Neighbor Totoro english dubbed 2005 version and she was 7. I'm only rating and reviewing so I remember for the future what not to do when I make my directing debut teen Romance/Drama.
