  "Raise ravens and they will gouge out your eyes".
  An elusive psychological thriller that deals with the themes of childhood innocence and the loss of it, the repression-both political and social and the uncertainty. It's hard to imagine 'Cría cuervos' or 'The spirit of the beehive' without Ana Torrent's unfaltering gaze and her face exemplifying pensive sadness.

  Everything makes sense under the light of Thomas redwood's deciphering of film's overarching circular narrative structure. The seasonal development, arranging of newsreel sequences, motific repetitions, narrative shifts, spatial and temporal dimensions all seems to be coming together neatly.
