  I am never trusting another review--from a friend or critic--of new releases. As a big fan of the original for its moments of cheese, over-the-topness and sun-soaked motorcycle rides, I was expecting to like this. But true to Marvel-style filmmaking, the dialogue is stilted and alien, the story is incoherent and overblown and even Tom Cruise's grin can't save it. Everything is a superhero movie now, even if it's not a superhero movie.

  Why Ruby Keeler was ever made the lead in any movies when Joan Blondell was literally.right.there is proof that there is no justice in the world.

  And overall the most underwhelming Berkely numbers I've seen. :/
