Not only is this a wonderfully animated throwback to classic cartoon shenanigans, and a loving tribute to old-school sci-fi, it's also a searing satire about the dismal state of the American animation industry, and a plea to those in power (I'm looking at you, David Zaslav) to take risks on interesting passion projects more often, instead of turning artists into button pushing drones, repackaging the same flavorless products, and treating audiences as nothing more than mindless consumers.
Honestly, it's a minor miracle that this even exists, and I'm very thankful it does.
