I've often wondered what goes on in the mind of the regular people upholding a fascistic regime and this has answered most of my questions. A must-see to understand patriarchy, domination, and the urge for freedom. Illustrating state violence inside the family unit felt groundbreaking. I'm reinspired by contemporary feminism now, this is not first world problem shit. Honor to all the people who could make this film happen, the director and everyone else who took immense risks.

Edge of the Knife 2018
A movie about belonging (to a family, to a social role, to a culture) and a cautionary tale to respect the land that provides. It was a pretty gory and raw watch but beautifully shot. Simple and pure, no artifice.

Evil Does Not Exist 2023
my favorite setting of quiet forests, my favorite theme of nature and capitalism clashing, my favorite slow small things of life japanese cinema, my favorite thought-provoking and conversation inducing ending, all are reunited in this weird and beautiful, serious and poetic film. Take a chill pill before watching! Its slow af.
