Initial thoughts.. What just happened?? It felt like I was watching a high budget erotica with gothic elements.
Robert Eggers, the director, already gave me high hopes because of the familiarity I had with his past success with “The Lighthouse”. His directing style contains gothic elements, dark dialogue, and a noir-like cinematography and characters.. This movie definitely had all of that.

Words cannot describe how great this drama/romance film was.
I mean.. where do I start? The stellar acting or Robin Williams and Matt Damon..? The amazing plot? Multiple scenes with eye opening monologue?
This film was just fantastic. Maybe I’m just in shock of this movie made me feel and with its great story driven drama plot.. but this was movie was such an original and simple movie that focused on the arc of Matt Damon’s character Will.
I would rate this a 5 but maybe I would need to rewatch.

This film gives me hope that horror films don’t have to always be too gory or too demonic.. the horror of not knowing what happens next is truly the beauty of a great film separating itself from the given genre..
I loved how I was at the edge of my seat and I loved the ending!!!
