I am a huge Ghibli fan (especially of Takahata directed films). Yet, I will say that Hayao should've kept being retired from film making. Somewhere from Kaze tachinu, he started to fall apart. He really should've just let his son direct films more.
I came to that conclusion after I went to see the film in its limited release.
