    Mamoru Miyano as Light is perhaps my favorite voice performance of all time. I just love his effortless switch from the doting high school prodigy to the cold and calculating Kira.

    As a character he should definitely be counted among the other great “bad guy” protagonists that flourished in tv-shows during the 2000s.     Probably the closest thing I’ve seen to live action manga. Takashi Miike understands that it’s not necessarily about cartoony visuals or over-the-top sound effects. It’s more to do with the framing of the shots and the pacing of the scenes.

    Several edits in this felt just like turning the page to a multi panel drawing. Coupled with a dialogue containing enough dramatic pauses to give it a touch of anime.

    Blade of the Immortal is over two hours long, but…

    After finishing The Sopranos I was still hungry for some more mafia action, and seeing how Goodfellas has more than 20 of the same cast members I decided to give it a watch.

    Goodfellas felt like a slice of mob-life movie. But it also never felt like it had any plot and therefore it was never any exciting or suspenseful. Not for me at least. None of the characters were that interesting either. The acting, on the other hand, was perfect. So was the violence.

    I can see why this movie has gotten a lot of praise, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

    Being one of the most infamous Norwegian so-bad-it’s-good films, I was expecting much laughter from both myself and the audience. Instead it was surprisingly quiet, and I don’t think it was just out of respect for the attending director and crew.

    Split into four chapters/locations, Dis opens in Cairo. Which unfortunately or not, is the most engaging segment. Here the words and images speak together. Producing a meditative and poetic mood. With the newly upgraded DCP really getting its time…
