  Okay. I’m going to acknowledge that I watched this movie a million times as a kid. I’m aware that much of my love for Paulie stems from this. That being said, watching it as an adult made me weak. I laughed loud. I cried too many times. I won’t stop saying “MARIIIIEEEEE” in Joe Pesci’s accent. This birds sass and charm is medicine. This movie is gold. Tell me different and I’ll fight you.

  I dig this film. Was sold when the first scene wrapped up. Came full circle with the end scene. Yes, the dialogue and acting is corny but it’s essential to making it feel relevant and authentic. These weren’t actors- but kids found at punk shows. Penelope Spheeris embedded countless snippets of peoples lived experiences into the foundation of the movie, and I felt that in all the right ways.
