Not a terrible movie. Interesting that Rossellini films his anti-German propaganda piece as an homage to Fritz Lang. Some very beautiful shots of political martyrdoms. I love Anna Magnani. But it’s basically an average movie of its time, and the convenient erasure of Italian fascism rly transforms this into kitsch. A less entertaining Sound of Music for film bros.

I Saw the TV Glow 2024
Defanged Cronenberg for babies, a repulsively solipsistic fable. If I would have known this was even Buffy-adjacent I would have steered clear. Still, much of the dialogue managed to deliver a delicious awkwardness and there were a (very) few moments of true aesthetic genius. I know not every trans person can be cool, but every trans movie should be.
