favorite of the year, i think!!
what a smart, thoughtful commentary about class that’s fully grounded in the humanity of its characters - no didactic speeches or moralizing, just a heartbreakingly honest depiction of the delight and devastation of two worlds colliding that never should.
some scenes go on longer than they need to, but i don’t think it detracted from the overall impact of the story

that said, i think if taken on its own terms (trashy and absurd telenovela) rather than held to the standard of a “best picture nom” (which it never should have received) it’s an entertaining enough time, especially the first half. though maybe i just think this bc i smoked a bunch of weed 30 mins in.
