The Brutalist 2024
Such a good, long, good, long film. So long. But worth the intermission necessary to make it through. Only thing that made me feel a bit under-enthusiastic was the "its about the destination not the journey" message at the end, but that's just a personal taste ding.

Anatomy of a Fall 2023
This might be my favorite movie I have seen in 2025, along side Anora (which I saw yesterday). Anatomy of a Fall is a masterpiece character drama, which is as emotionally thought provoking as it is viscerally beautiful. Anatomy of a Fall, as a title, is a poetic choice- as the film is as much about the deathly physical fall as it is about the fall of a romantic relationship. The film works on so many levels, and I just love it.

From the trailer I kinda thought this would be another dumb movie about a rich guy sweeping a working girl off her feet. Nope- It was a cinematic mastery on a both narrative and craft element levels. Very powerful character study drama, wrapped in a high-ish octane adventure journey.
