surprisingly great (though I know it was wrong to ever doubt Anno), but can't help but feel a tinge of grief that the best, and most personally identifiable, character sacrifices the most and gets the worst ending.

one of the most formally empty movies I've ever seen, truly awesome to see this praised as anything more than an effort in headache inducing delirium. and the music felt like a fever dream, as if the goal of a score is to fill every second of a film's runtime with sappy crescendos and bad drones. by far one of the worst movies I've seen this year.
the worst written batman i've seen. narrative-wise it's nothing more than unimaginative twists with little-to-no development (thematically or narratologically), and in dialog it's so clumsy and corny it makes Bale's I AM THE NIGHT voice look downright delicate in comparison. and, as commentary, it depicts the great evil of a city rife with crime and disorder to be psychotic, male loners hellbent on tearing apart the social fabric.
