Sean Baker masterfully paints this pastel picture of a dystopian yet universally understood existence in the shadow of the cardboard cutout castle. The realistic style resonates with a deep timbre throughout his work.
Dafoe’s a hottie! He continues to solidify his spot as my favorite actor. The standout star, however, is Brooklynn Prince. I was amazed at her performance. Again, it really works well with the natural, grounded style in both this and Anora. I’m looking forward to checking out…
Pretty fun! Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo are so good. That Pattinson’s got range too!
I didn’t think Ruffalo’s Trumpisms were too over the top, but it walked the line.
Very uncomfortable and grotesque stuff! Often solid satire. I wish we got more of the church company. Neat worldbuilding there and with multiples that they could’ve explored. Third act felt a bit lackluster.
This truly was a sci fi comedy from Bong Joon Ho starring Rob Pattinson.
