I wish “Se7en” did not play for shock value. I’m guessing in 1995, the gruesomeness felt more important and original. Today, in a world of “Saw”s and other sick horror films, it just feels tired and unnecessary.

Kevin Spacey also makes the film feel dated. Although I guess this was the original Matt Damon in “Interstellar” uncredited late appearance.

Clearly a lot of movies owe a debt to “Se7en.” “Saw” 1-7(?) of course. And more recently “The Batman,” a movie…

“Terminator 2: Judgment Day” remains an all-timer. It’s just a great, big budget Hollywood action movie with a true movie star.

I think "A Complete Unknown" was about as good as it could be. I recommend!

The people love a movie with an intermission, although our theater definitely turned off the film, not realizing the film actually counts down the 15 minutes.

“The Brutalist” hits some great beats. The Statue of Liberty shot off the bat. The opening credits moving across the screen. The music, including for the closing credits. The occasional laugh out loud joke. It’s also very unsettling. I found myself constantly wondering - what is the actual relationship between these characters? Is anything…
