Something about Oz Perkins films doesn't work for me, and I can’t put my finger on it. His movies have always felt amateurish and unpolished, and they’re just not getting any better with Longlegs.
It’s like Perkins is trying to say: “See, this is scary. This is a scary image. Look, here’s blood. Here’s a dead person.” But he doesn’t establish why these images would be scary or any underpinnings of what makes it horror.
