While I can say that the Dagobah scenes are rather dragging, I would rate this my favorite movie of all time. Star Wars stops becoming a story about Luke Skywalker and starts becoming the process of change for Han Solo. The background art is amazing enough to look like the location actually exists. The models for every vehicle and object are amazing. Practical effects are a lost art and should be more prevalent today. The original theatrical version of Empire Strikes Back stands a more refined movie than anything science fiction that has come before or after it.
This movie hurt my soul.
There are some rules to film. Not the rules that are meant to be broken, i.e. thinking outside the box, but the rules that make watching a film enjoyable. The rule that comes to mind is "Show, Don't Tell." The film is roughly the equivalent of someone summarizing a season.
