  Is it flawed? Absolutely. For my money, Princess Mononoke is the closest Hayao Miyazaki has ever come to making a "perfect movie." But I can't deny that no other Ghibli film makes me feel like this one does. Not only is there a thoughtful war critique lingering beneath this film's vibrant exterior, but the message of self-love that is very effectively communicated to the audience never fails to make me feel warm and cozy inside. This is a quintessential emotional support movie for me, and I'm always left with an ear-to-ear smile whenever I revisit it.
