Glad I decided to watch this again; it finally clicked for me! There's a lot of fascinating themes happening here that I didn't pick up on the first time. The acting isn't the most believable, but it didn't bother me during this second viewing.

Mulholland Drive 2001
This hits harder after Lynch's passing. I really didn't grasp how much I related to his work until after watching Inland Empire for the first time in 2022, and rewatching Mulholland Drive is another reminder of that affinity I have toward his work. A hypnotic and unnerving masterpiece. Lynch is the expert of juxtaposing dreams and reality, and discovering where that dividing line exists is part of the fun. Cinematography and sound/music are top-tier; the 4K remaster enhances those already brilliant aspects.

Bliss 2019
The perfect example of a “just when I thought it couldn’t get any more insane” movie. This is one of the most intense films I’ve ever seen. All the elements fit together perfectly, from the frenetic camera work, the soundtrack with plenty of sludge/doom metal and a disturbing score, the amazing acting of Dora Madison (Dezzy) — all combined into a bloody, nightmarish masterpiece. A thrilling, unrelenting buildup until the very end of its mere 80 minutes.
