Substance accomplishes the grotesque body horror it promises but it fixated on that alone, and missed the whole point-ageism and the endless expectation of being the best version of yourself. Demi Moore was stunning and absolutely deserves an oscar, standing out among other candidates. Yet, Sustance itself lacks the ability to move forward with its idea, prioritizing disturbing the audience over meaningful storytellinf. This could've been a short film with same amount of body horror but a stronger narrative.
