    tldr; a trans woman felt moved by the movie about the hardships trans women experience.

    no but seriously, my life is no where near the level of brutality and roughness the women and queer people in this movie experience, but the feelings of dehumanization they faced and their persistence in spite of that made me feel very connected to the trans experience. It’s really horrible to think most of the monumental pillars of queer history featured in this aren’t around anymore, but having it cemented in film is the next best thing.

    obviously it’s a direct reference but the connections it made to Casablanca, one of my favorite films, made me feel so nostalgic for this movie. The color blocking and cinematic visuals really make me feel like this isn’t just a story, but a film. Bringing back technicolor vibes :D

    i think one of the hardest feelings to grasp after dealing with sexual trauma is the notion that it’s not isolated to just affecting your feelings on intimacy or vulnerability. you’re not as charming, you lose some of your wit, even menial tasks lose their ease.
