Originally watched this film when I was a kid and my reaction was "damn that little girl is evil". Saw it on criterion channel recently, surprised at how much I enjoyed it as an adult. Really nice monologues. Eileen Heckart's performance as a drunk, grieving mother is excellent. And who doesn't love a faulknerian idiot workman who is an implicit child murderer?! This film has it all!
