I love movies where HK directors attempt to appeal to an American audience because they don't dilute their movies with subtext, they know what we REALLY WANT. We want jean claude van damme and dennis rodman. We want gadgets and cool guns in Europe. The story is absolutely deranged, it feels like you accidentally took a 250mg D8 edible from the gas station. This movie is so fucking cool. Heroic bloodshed at its absolute best. Relatively grounded, self aware, and concise compared to John Woos movies without compromising any style. The costume design is so swaggy, chow yun fat looks so effortlessly cool despite wearing 5 different collared shirts at once with scarves and bowties and shit.
